Originating in 1980s Australia, the dance involves vigorous rocking and stomping by listeners to rock and electronic music.

Melbourne shuffle dance is a club dance that has its roots from the underground rave music scene in Melbourne Australia. It is characterized by a fast heel-and-toe action which is a style suitable for a wide variety of electronic music.


Overview and Characteristics
Originally, the dance Melbourne shuffle dance consisted of a dance style known as the “T-step” dance. It is a quick sideways heel-toe motion on one leg twisting at the ankle. It includes sliding, arm pumps, kicks, and spins. With time, a new style known as the running man came into play. This dance imitates a person who s running on the spot and hence the name. It is a two-step dance where the where the front foot is brought backward in two hops. The back foot is also brought forward using a walking motion. To help in easy sliding, dancers are known to spread talcum powder on the floor while others stick plastic tapes in their shoe-soles. Some experienced dancers are known to make more complicated moves such as 360 degrees spin and some interesting jumps in the middle of the dance. The dance style has spread to other areas of the American continent and has been modified depending on the geographical zone.

Origins
The origin of the name Melbourne shuffle dance is not clear, but it was first used publicly in a TV interview by Ruppert Keller in 1990. Before this, many had referred to the dance simply as “stomping.” To most people, the dance looked like a cross breed between the chicken dance and the stomping robot. However, the exact location where the dance started was in Melbourne underground rave music scenes.

Spread and Development 
This dance technique has remained relatively idle and has escaped the attention of the media. Before 1990 it even had no name. However, the internet has come in handy to spread it. Its popularity grew in the late 1990s and spread to other areas outside Australia, the country of origin. In Australia and the US, there is a new crop of young performers performing in ciphers. These are young teenagers who have not attained the legal age to attend raves in clubs. In London, a new style of the Melbourne shuffle dance emerged in 2013and became common in London clubs. The dance is also seen in other European countries going by different names. In some instances, there are modifications done to suit the culture and music category being danced to. It has changed from just a rave dance to being used for self-expression and fun. In Thailand, dancers are seen shuffling on the beaches of Koh Phangan.

Notable Practitioners

Since the mass media have not given the dance style the much-needed attention, its dancers are not well known. Some dancers have however been able to break the glass ceiling with the most noticeable being the veteran duo of Pae and Sarah. Several musicians’ have incorporated the dance in their videos including a German band known as the scooter. Other musicians who used this dance in their music include; LMFAO, Que's crew, and Andrew Fur.

Greater Significance and Legacy

The dance style has evolved from being just a rave dance in Australia into being a medium of expression. In the recent past, fitness schools have incorporated it into their routines towards fitness and weight loss.

«Ο τίτλος του τραγουδιού είναι Fuego που σημαίνει φωτιά. Το κομμάτι είναι στα αγγλικά, είναι ποπ και έχει μέσα κλαρίνο. Φαντάζεσαι να πάει η Φουρέιρα και να μην χορέψει; Και εγώ η ίδια θα έλεγα όχι. Εννοείται θα χορέψουμε», είχε πει σε παλαιότερες δηλώσεις της η Ελένη Φουρέιρα η οποία έχει βάλει στόχο να πραγματοποιηθεί του χρόνου ο διαγωνισμός στην Κύπρο. 
Να σημειώσουμε ότι η Ελένη Φουρέιρα και ο συνθέτης Άλεξ Παπακωνσταντίνου επιλέχθηκαν με εσωτερική ανάθεση από το ΡΙΚ.
Ο διαγωνισμός φέτος διεξάγεται για πρώτη φορά στην πρωτεύουσα της Πορτογαλίας και ο τελικός θα πραγματοποιηθεί το Σάββατο 12 Μαΐου. Η Κύπρος εμφανίζεται στον πρώτο ημιτελικό, την Τρίτη 8 Μαΐου, όπως και η Ελλάδα.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS KIZOMBA

Kizomba is a genre of dance and a musical genre originating in Angola, and it means "party" in Kimbundu, an Angolan language. Kizomba dance is a derivative of the Angolan Semba and Kizomba music is a derivative of traditional Angolan Semba music with the French Antilles Compas / Kompa.


Music genre
The origins of kizomba can be traced to late-1970s Africa, with influences variably attributed to Angola.Kizomba is characterised by a slower, romantic, more sensuous rhythm[3] than the traditional Angolan semba dance.Kizomba music emerged as a more modern music genre with a sensual touch mixed with African rhythm and Haitian Compas or (Kompa in Haitian Creole). Kizomba is Angolan Zouk, most kizomba songs are sung in Portuguese.
Semba has been danced in the 1950s in Angola. In the 1990s, when the actual kizomba music got more and more popular, Angolan semba dancers started to adapt their semba steps according to the tempo and flavour of the Kizomba beats
Confusion With Urban Kizomba (Urban Kiz)
The popularity of R&B, Hip Hop, and Rap gave rise to another dance style called Urban Kizomba or Urban Kiz. Urban Kizomba is a derivative of the Kizomba dance style that was originated in France. This dance style uses different techniques and it is danced with Zouk R&b and often with the Cape Verdean Zouk R&B. Urban Kiz teachers and organizers wrongly calling their classes and events Kizomba, instead of calling them Urban Kiz have caused lots of misunderstandings and confusions. In addition, Cape Verdean artists and producers also take advantage of this confusion by labeling their songs as kizomba instead of Zouk (Cabo Zouk, Cabo Love). These confusions have led many Urban Kizomba dancers to beleive that the Kizomba dance and music are from Cape Verde instead of Angola.

Popularity
Kizomba is known for having a slow, insistent, somewhat harsh yet sensuous rhythm as the result of electronic percussion. It is danced accompanied by a partner, very smoothly, slowly and sensuously, and with neither tightness nor rigidity. There are frequent simultaneous hip rotations coordinated between dance partners, particularly in the quieter refrains of the music. Several individuals with a love of the Kizomba culture have been promoting it in other countries.
Famous Angolan kizomba singers include Bonga, André Mingas, Liceu Vieira Dias, Neide Van-Dúnem, Don Kikas, Calo Pascoal, Heavy C., Puto Portugues, Maya Cool, Matias Damasio, Rei Helder, Pérola, Anselmo Ralph and Irmãos Verdades.
Famous Angolan teachers such as kota José N'dongala (founder of the Kizombalove Academy) and Mestre Petchu (founder of the Tradicional Kilandukilu Ballet) have been giving Kizomba and Semba teachers courses for years to further popularize their Angolan cultural values in Africa, Europe and in America.

Brazil
In Brazil, kizomba became famous when the pop artist Kelly Key released the album No Controle, in February 3, 2015. Key left the dance-pop/R&B songs to introduce the kizomba in Brazil. In an interview Key said she sought originality and new styles: "I'm running this responsibility of being predictable. I wanted to record Kizomba for 13 years! Now I feel mature and have knowledge of movement".

Australia
In Australia, kizomba has been spreading quickly. Appearing in 2012 in Sydney, it is now dance in Melbourne, Gold Coast , Darwin, Adelaide,Brisbane, etc.

China
In China, kizomba has been more and more popular especially in the big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing，etc. Many teachers are teaching kizomba include local teachers and foreign teachers. Every year, different Latin dance festivals are organized such as Shanghai Bachata/Kizomba Festival, Chengdu Salsa Carnival, Salsa Memucho, etc. Kizomba classes are popular in these festivals.

Intro:
On stage, clad in his trademark white, he is impossible to miss. Wireless keyboard in one hand, an ever-ready clutch of his own productions in the other, his live crowd-interacting performances have brought an entirely new experience for club and festival goers worldwide. In 2010 this unequalled approach was reflected in DJ Magazine`s Top 100 chart, when he re-entered its top 50 for a third year running, landing at #34. As a music producer he`s scaled the heights of national charts and with 6 artist albums & compilations released in the last 3 years alone. He is very possibly the most prolific trance musician working today. 

Early History:
Born in Esslingen in southern Germany, Roger started to hit his production stride in 1999, putting out the tracks `Claps`, `The Mission` & `Tides of Time`. In 2003 his `High` release was signed by Virgin Records imprint Nebula. This marked his first non-domestic release and over the course of the next 5 years he inked productions to a range of heavy-hitting trance labels - Anjunabeats, VANDIT & Black Hole among them.

The Armin Connection:

In 2007 Armin named Shah`s `Who Will Find Me` as his favourite track of that year. Having heard the demo of its follow up, Van Buuren saw significant crossover potential in the track and made contact early in 2008 to ask if Shah would like to collaborate on it. The result was the Chris Jones vocalled `Going Wrong`... A top 5 smash in The Netherlands national charts, the track went on to become one of the biggest selling trance singles of the year. From there Magic Island Records – Shah`s primary label - moved from his own stable to that of one of industry-leading Armada Music.

Magic Island Records:

An imprint for both Roger`s own material and that of likeminded producers, Magic Island releases have quickly become fixtures in the CDJs of some of the world`s biggest spinners. Notable up and coming names like Ralph Fritsch, DJ Cosmo, Kim Svard and Walsh & McAuley have all put out productions on the label. In December 2010 it celebrated its 50th release with Kim Svard`s `Manne`s Song`.

`Songbook`:

The quickest produce of the Magic Island/Armada deal was Roger`s first artist album, `Songbook`. Well received by both press and fans alike, it was much praised for its innovative dual club mix and acoustical version approach. Singles taken from it like `Don`t Wake Me Up`, `Going Wrong` & `Who Will Find Me` (a Top 20 ASOT Tune of the Year in 2008) proved to be particularly popular. The follow-up to `Songbook` is currently slated for Q2, 2011.

Live & DJ Performances:

In late 2008 Shah changed his artist name, dropping the `DJ` prefix and revising it to . This move signalled a move away from straightforward DJ sets, which he`d found increasingly inhibiting. Numerous countries around the world have subsequently played host to the performances. Hot-spots like Sydney, Ibiza, Argentina, Poland & India have been rocked, with Roger performing at tent-pole events including the ASOT400, I Love Kiev, Gatecrasher`s NYE & Judgement Sundays. In October of 2010 Shah sold-out a solo, 4000 capacity event for Foro Corona in Mexico, where he played for six hours, incorporating 65 of his tracks and 18 live performances into the night.

Pseudonyms & Side Projects:

In addition to his own-name tracks, Roger has also produced under a myriad of other aliases. Notable among them are his `pka` DJ Shah, High Noon at Salinas, Magic Island & Savannah. Shah is also one half of the Anjunabeats released act Purple Moods, Black Hole project Global Experience and ASOT`s Black Pearl, whose `06 - `11 spanning singles `Coral Sea`, `Java`, `Bounty Island`, `Rise` & `Discovery` generating much additional interest in Shah`s solo productions.

Sunlounger:

Sunlounger is without doubt Roger`s best known nom de plume. It was under this handle that he released the `Another Day on The Terrace` long-player in 2008. It reached No.1 on Dutch iTunes` `all-music-genres` chart and spawned four singles (`In & Out`, `Aguas Blancas`, `Crawling` & `White Sand`). The project become so celebrated that Roger expanded Sunlounger into a live act - a performance of which was featured on Armada`s Armin Only It was this experience that he credits with being the catalytic point of his move to live performances. In 2009 Roger released the Sunlounger follow-up `Sunny Tales`, with progeny singles included `Catwalk`, `Mediterranean Flower`, `Change Your Mind`. It also contained the much-revered `Lost` - a track that took the illustrious `Single of 2008` title on the A State of Trance radio show. Broadcasting weekly, Magic Island - Music For Balearic People is a 2 hour radio show carried by the famous DI-fm station and is currently being syndicated to many other countries, most recent additions including Mexico and Jordan. Presented by Roger every Friday between 21.00 GMT (22:00 CET), it showcases a combination of melodic trance in the first hour, with the 2nd focusing on Balearic, chillout and Dream trance.

Greek DJ/producer Mihalis Safras has a long history in the electronic music scene of Greece, becoming one of his home country's most celebrated DJs.
